Process servers must be registered in order to legally serve process in Arizona (and most other places as well). Here at ASAP Serve, our process servers are registered professionals. I would like to give you an idea of what they went through to become registered so that you can be confident they will be able to handle any situation that may arise while serving your papers.
First, some basics, a process server must be at least 21 years of age. Finally, they cannot be involved with the case already (a party, attorney or employee of an attorney). As with many other occupations, an application must be filled out and fingerprints are taken.
Beyond this, a registered process server must pass a written exam that tests their knowledge of Arizona State Law. The website of the Arizona Judicial Branch (azcourts.gov) recommends enlisting the help of an attorney or going to a law library to study for the exam. Even after meeting all of the basic requirements and passing the exam, a registered process server is still required to complete ten hours of continuing education every year. Furthermore, a process server’s certificate expires and must be renewed every three years.
